Yorkshire born painter Karen Griffiths lives in the French Alps, with her
studio overlooking the
alpine town of Morzine. Since leaving university,
Brighton became home for eight years painting in her beachfront studio,
until moving to France 4 years ago. Travelling since university, most
recently Malaysia, India, Morocco, and China has proven to be her
inspiration.
Sketchbooks, photographs, writings and collected ephemera
feed the paintings to create the
atmosphere of encounters and passing
moments in other worlds.
Paint delicately layered forms a base for the
subject of her paintings. People and places she
is drawn to on journeys
fascinate, and become the focus, entwined on the canvas
with words to
create snapshots of time.
Karen's paintings will continue to be exhibited
in the UK and Internationally.
